What does living simply luxuriously look like?

Shannon defines it succinctly in her mission statement which kickstarted her lifestyle blog, The Simply Luxurious Life:

The simply luxurious life is something I believe every one of us can attain if indeed we are seeking quality over quantity, sensibility rather than frivolity, personal style instead of trendy fashions and a truly fulfilling life instead of being led around by the nose, thereby creating a life of true contentment.

Shannon Ables is the founder and editor of the internationally recognized lifestyle blog The Simply Luxurious Life (est.  2009) which inspired her first book Choosing The Simply Luxurious Life: A Modern Woman’s Guide (2014). In 2018, she published her second book  Living The Simply Luxurious Life: Making Your Everydays Extraordinary and Discovering Your Best Self, and in 2022, her third book became a #1 New Release and #1 Bestseller in France Travel, The Road to Le Papillon: Daily Meditations on True Contentment.

Shannon also shares inspiration and tips on how to curate your very own simply luxurious life on her podcast The Simple Sophisticate which airs on the first and third Wednesday of each month, pairing intelligent living with signature style.

Inspired by her love of France and a seasonal, yet simple (and always delicious) approach to cooking, premiering each September is her cooking show The Simply Luxurious Kitchen which premiered in 2018.

And as the British culture and everyday pastimes of savoring a Cuppa and pottering in the garden have long captured her penchant for enjoying everyday moments and Mother Nature, TSLL’s Annual British Week takes place on the blog the third full week in May (est. 2019), and for Francophiles, the second week in August marks TSLL’s Annual French Week (est. 2016), the two most beloved times of year on the blog for readers.

Good morning and welcome to Friday! While we may n Good morning and welcome to Friday! While we may not have snow on the ground in Bend, we are receiving an abundance of rain, and well, as a pluviophile, I am soaking it all up with a smile ☺️ ☔️❤️

And, it is This & That Day on the blog! The last T&T of 2025 as my annual one week off at the end of the calendar year is about upon us, so let's take a look and see what you will discover ➡️ Quite a few films are premiering, and some are generating murmurs of possible Oscar nominations. The holiday specials for Anglophiles are just around the corner, clothing for timeless style and cozying in, some available at steep savings, and a new biopic of a great rivalry kicks off today in the UK. All of this and still, there is more.
In a new episode of @thesimplesophisticatepodcast In a new episode of @thesimplesophisticatepodcast (ep. #416), we're exploring the necessity of solitude and how to figure out what the exact recipe is for each of us (it will be different for everyone, but, as will be shared, all of us benefit from intentionally experiencing solitude on a regular basis whether single or in a relationship).

And this month, the holidays prompt many of the nine things shared to tickle the mind- one of them has to do with holiday breads - so many to choose from, so little time to enjoy them! We're also talking and shopping argyle, tartan and tweed!

Pictured here: @mill_fire_baking 's Stollen and Frisian Gingerbread. Both scrumptiously delicious and hard to stop at just one slice!
Yes, head out on the search. There is an Importanc Yes, head out on the search. There is an Importance of Embarking on the Search as we discuss in today's Monday Motivational post, and as an unexpected and memorable experience inspired today's post (taking place right here in these woods), the gifts are aplenty and know what we need for fulfillment far better than our at-first ignorant, yet thankfully courageous self realizes. Soon the wisdom is gained and the contentment we seek discovered.
