What does living simply luxuriously look like?

Shannon defines it succinctly in her mission statement which kickstarted her lifestyle blog, The Simply Luxurious Life:

The simply luxurious life is something I believe every one of us can attain if indeed we are seeking quality over quantity, sensibility rather than frivolity, personal style instead of trendy fashions and a truly fulfilling life instead of being led around by the nose, thereby creating a life of true contentment.

Shannon Ables is the founder and editor of the internationally recognized lifestyle blog The Simply Luxurious Life (est.  2009) which inspired her first book Choosing The Simply Luxurious Life: A Modern Woman’s Guide (2014). In 2018, she published her second book  Living The Simply Luxurious Life: Making Your Everydays Extraordinary and Discovering Your Best Self, and in 2022, her third book became a #1 New Release and #1 Bestseller in France Travel, The Road to Le Papillon: Daily Meditations on True Contentment.

Shannon also shares inspiration and tips on how to curate your very own simply luxurious life on her podcast The Simple Sophisticate which airs on the first and third Wednesday of each month, pairing intelligent living with signature style.

Inspired by her love of France and a seasonal, yet simple (and always delicious) approach to cooking, premiering each September is her cooking show The Simply Luxurious Kitchen which premiered in 2018.

And as the British culture and everyday pastimes of savoring a Cuppa and pottering in the garden have long captured her penchant for enjoying everyday moments and Mother Nature, TSLL’s Annual British Week takes place on the blog the third full week in May (est. 2019), and for Francophiles, the second week in August marks TSLL’s Annual French Week (est. 2016), the two most beloved times of year on the blog for readers.

The ingredients to begin a nourishing day. I have The ingredients to begin a nourishing day. I have to give a shout-out of gratitude to TSLL member Vickie for inspiring the morning candle in the kitchen. Such a lovely, simple, yet focused way to begin a winter day.
Each morning I begin by reading something that settles and focuses my intention or delights my Francophile or Anglophile (I.e. gardening) predilections and these two books are currently on my bed stand.

The brass candlestick is from @mfchbox from @sharonsantoni , a timeless touch of France, completes this ritual I look forward to savoring as we near the shortest day of the year.

Friday's arrival welcomes a new edition of This & Friday's arrival welcomes a new edition of This & That to the blog and this week ➡️ Quite a few British finds this week, from a return of a favorite series after a two-year hiatus, another female-led series is back, and a new book about the beloved Queen Elizabeth II. Also, books: one tells the true story of the most curious art theft, another is a novel by a Nobel Prize-winning author, and then we have a book for bibliophiles that just looks ideal for winter reading. We cannot forget the Francophile finds – home and style beauties, and two locations for a British restful getaway have been found. Still, there is more!

This episode is one I have been looking forward to This episode is one I have been looking forward to sharing because art, when we intentionally welcome it into our sanctuary to live with us on a daily basis, it has a powerful effect on the quality of our life. The key is to understand how to collect art that will have this effect on you because each of us will have a unique collection.
@katebryan_art new book demystifies the art world, teaching us how we can all both appreciate and have art in our lives.
